WHEN SHOULD I MAINTAIN MY AIR COMPRESSOR?
Facilities that make extensive use of air compressor solutions understand the importance of being able to depend on their performance. This means that you need to ensure it is always in top condition so that you can enjoy the benefits of uninterrupted and optimal performance, for longer.
While compressor maintenance should be something you look at a few times a year, there are a few signs you can look out for that will tell you if are in need of any compressor repairs or maintenance.
Let’s have a look at a few major ones:
A BUILD-UP OF CONDENSATION
If moisture builds up at the point of use you should check the condition of air receiver drains. Remember that manual compressors should be drained daily. If moisture is an issue with your automatic drain, it may be faulty.
IT’S MAKING TOO MUCH NOISE
A change in volume or sound is never a good thing with machinery. While compressors are noisy, it should be a consistent sound and volume, if not, there may be damage to the motor.
OVERHEATING
Compressors will power-down when they overheat, so thermal overload is generally an obvious issue to spot. Clear your coolers and reset it; if this doesn’t work, call us for help.
VARYING PERFORMANCE
Performance should also be consistent. Power loss for no apparent reason is generally a sign that the compressor needs repairs.
LOW OR NO AIR PRESSURE
A decrease in air pressure is common, and often associated with internal wear or a slipped belt, while no air pressure generally means there is a problem with the controls; a general cause for repairs.
